Alastair should change his name to AlaSTAR! Not only did he get our photos back to us extremely quickly (our wedding was a Saturday, we had all of our photos by Tuesday!!!), but they are the most stunning photos I have ever seen. He captured every important moment while at the same time, not inundating us with fluff photos.
We used him for our engagement shoot as well and we loved working with him. The day of our engagement shoot the weather was calling for a thunderstorm. Alastair reached out to us to move up the shoot to avoid the rain, but advised this type of weather can actually lead to really nice photos – he was correct! He also recommended a spot for us to grab dinner as we weren’t from the area.
We can’t recommend Alastair enough. You wont’ be disappointed in booking him!
It was truly a pleasure working with Alastair a few weeks ago for our ceremony at Compass Rose! Even though it was a super intimate ceremony, he fit in right away and made everyone so comfortable. He worked well with our videographers and was able to find some greats spots around the venue for photos throughout the day. He was quick in delivering the photos back to us and we absolutely loved them!!

He is the most amazing photographer! The photographs he took were absolute dreams. Complete perfection. He worked with us, laughed with us, chatted, and was patient as we fumbled trying to look posed nicely. The posed photos were amazing, but he runs around like a silent ninja and took my absolute favourites – the candid shots. As my husband and I were laughing our heads off, he was still snapping photos, and they were our favourites hands down. We also looked at the photos and realized that during the ceremony he snapped shots from every single angle but we had no idea he even moved! He truly is a silent ninja. We could not be more thrilled with his skills with people, lighting, angles, and capturing every gorgeous moment of the amazing day. And he got the most perfect bokeh in our first dance photos. Thrilled doesn’t cover how happy we are.

We found him through hours of searching online for a portfolio that we really loved. We were looking for someone who could capture real moments perfectly and a photography style that would be timeless, and Alastair’s portfolio really fit perfectly.
We absolutely LOVE our photos – we kept going from one picture to the next and by the end we had lost track of how many ‘favourites’ we had; both posed and candid photos were beautifully done. And the best part was that during the ceremony and dinner/dancing, he was almost totally invisible and non-invasive which was very important for us.

Besides the fact that he is a talented photographer he is also just a genuinely lovely person! Originally we were going to get married in Ontario which is when we first met Alastair but then decided to wed in Alberta. Alastair was up for it and so we flew him out to capture our special day. Having never been to Canmore he found the MOST beautiful location for our wedding party shots which was close to our venue as well. Alastair is so incredibly accommodating and helpful, he blended in with our wedding guests and felt like a part of the group! When we got the sneak peak shots we were so impressed, he not only captured the essence of us as a couple but he caught those special non posey moments as well. I could go on and on about what a joy it was working with him but I’ll stop there! If you are looking for a photographer for your day or any occasion I would recommend Alastair wholeheartedly. Alastair was amazing! He did such a great job. We had only ever had our pictures taken once before, by him for our engagement session, and he was so good at giving direction and making us laugh. Our wedding had delays, and he was so patient and accomadating troughout it. It was so hot out too, but he was great.
